good songs

i listen to music almost all of the time! when i'm at home, at least... and so there are a lot of songs i like but have never expressed my admiration for them. that's when i got the idea to make this page. the songs will be separated by artist and in kind of a list format (unranked). note: i may get really cringe about the songs i like. brace yourself. additionally, it is really weird to read my thoughts on a song when you have not listened to it. consider listening to a track or two. thank yoouu

KMFDM

kmfdm is one of my favourite artists! even still, i am quite a surface-level fan for them and all other music artists i like. they are a german band who makes industrial rock/metal songs and have been active since the 1980s.

1. take it like a man

I LOVE THIS SONG! the female singing voice is just ethereal and the song would not be the same without it. i have no clue how to describe the sounds but they're good ok. this track is #5 on the wtf!? (2011) album setlist.

talk! shout! catfight! show me what u got!

2. bait & switch

this song seems to be about how politicians and authority figures often lie on their words or do not carry them into action when power is held--'bait and switch' the public, as in the title. either way, its good. this track is #2 on the blitz (2009) album setlist.

3. anarchy

this one is relatively popular (i think?) and for good reason. the crash sounds just make this song so characteristically, well, itself. this one is #7 on the symbols (1997) tracklist.

4. mercy

okay this one is so cool i dont even know what to say. it definitely feels slower than usual songs but that is okay. i always love a part where there are lyrics overlapping--the end is simply a joy. this is track #4 on symbols (1997) :)!

5. ready to blow

THIS ONE IS MY FAVOURITE KMFDM SONG. THE FEMALE VOICE IS INTOXICATING AND IT GOES SO WELL WITH THE MALE VOCAL. i hope it becomes extremely popular someday and everybody gets to hear it cause WTF. ready to blow is track 10, 2nd to last on hau ruck (2005).

ARCTIC MONKEYS

the arctic monkeys are a english indie rock band! they are quite popular all around, their most streamed song on spotify being i wanna be yours at 3 billion of them. they are also one of my favourite artists!!! :-)

1. fluorescent adolescent

i don't even know why i like this song. i think it is just the vibe entirely because i genuinely have no idea what this guy is saying and the lyrics go in one ear and out the other. its such an ambient song and i think that's beautiful. this is track #5 on the album favourite worst nightmare (2007)

2. why'd you only call me when you're high?

THE #1 YEARNER SONG OH MY LORD. this track has that true longing feeling you see, but never really feel. somehow the song manifests and reflects the emotion into your very soul. ive seen this track used for tons and tons edits and rightfully so. also here i will give up on listing the albums because i think its just useless to do that LOL

3. teddy picker

definitely a harsher tone than the songs above. the singing guy sounds passive aggressive and pissed and it just makes the song ten times better. i love it. apparently its a song about the struggle for fame and how everyone is convinced they will make it (and how many of them never do).

4. 505

this song stays relatively calm until about the 2nd half, where the lyrics are charged with force. it's a nice contrast. i'm not very sure what this song is about but that's okay. its good okay. have a listen okay. okay? okay.

i'm going back to 505 / if its a 7 hr flight or 45 minute drive

SHE WANTS REVENGE

i don't listen to she wants revenge very much anymore, but there are a few songs that are permanently stuck into my great big underdeveloped brain. she wants revenge is an american rock band. most of their songs deal with sex or romance. they were my #1 artist on spotify wrapped 2024.

1. your love

this song is so heavily underrated (or at least, i think it is? i'm not very sure). i don't have much to say about this song.

THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SWR SONG I DONT EVEN CARE HOW WEIRDLY SENSUAL IT IS. THATS JUST HOW ALL SWR SONGS ARE. IT DESERVES ALL THE FAME IT GETS. POINT BLANK.

3. animal attraction

ok i swear its just about sex and nothing about animals. i know the title might throw you off. but its nothing like that okay.

and one is a german new wave/edm/synthpop band. i don't listen to them often and i dont know much about them but they have a few good songs. for some reason you can always tell if they made the song.

1. body company

the BEST and one song. caution btw because sex. and sex is very scary.

i have no clue what this song is saying because its all in german and i don't speak it. but whatever. have a listen!!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!

3. military fashion show

i think this their most popular song. can you tell i've given up making descriptions for these songs.

i dont even know how to describe this song. just take my word for it and listen. it's so much better than seven nation army i dont even know how thats their most popular song.

okay i find this song not very good anymore but it marked such a monumental era in my music taste so i'll put it here anyway. i miss the glorious day when i listened to this song for the first time ever....

i found this song on my spotify daylist. holy shit. its so good. what the hell. i hope i never listen this one out. or i'll be so very sad. i don't have much to say.

do you know how mad i get at people who only listen to the intro? or say the intro is the only good part? like,. excuse me. have you even heard the rest of the song? how dare you?????? anyways its beautiful and the intro is the worst part of the song. its still good. but just the worst. because all the other parts are the betterest.

i say, don't you know? / you say you don't know / i say: "take me out!"

5. californication - red hot chilli peppers

my first listen of this song was one fateful day in the very city centre. the sun had already gone down by this time. some stranger was performing this song with his electric guitar along with creep by radiohead. my mom really likes this song and i can see why.

6. closer - nine inch nails

CLOSER BY NINE INCH NAILS IS NOT A LOVE SONG. it is a song about sex! for salvation!. either way it is still very yummy. i think it is very contrasting compared to most other songs and that is the reason it is so very popular.the songs good okay just trust me

7. dancing queen - abba

i heard this being sung (sang?) on new year's eve 2024/new year's day 2025, from some bar in australia. i think that really cemented my memory of the day haha. anyway i think this is song is quite universal which makes me very happy

8. pork soda - glass animals

somehow, every year, this song always comes back to me. i have known this song since 2020, but it feels timeless. pork soda deals with a relationship that has gone sour and some type of drug abuse. anyway, i love this song to bits and i hope it haunts me for the rest of my life. thank you glass animals.
